About Adam
Adam is an up-and-coming composer living in Brookline, MA. He is currently finishing his last semester of studies in composition at the Berklee College of Music. His compositions have garnered attention, his recent work Quaestiones Sine Responsa being named a finalist in the American Prize Ernst Bacon Memorial Award and earning him the Berklee Composition department’s Jeronimas Kaçinskas Award for outstanding achievement in composition in 2024. His music is informed by his eclectic background, having rigorous academic training in physics and engineering, an interest in birdsong, and a passion for global folk traditions. Adam often blurs the lines between contemporary classical composition, jazz, folk and world music through exploration and experimentation. Recent notable projects include his solo piano work, Quaestiones Sine Responsa, or “Questions Without Answers”, which explores how mindful curiosity can shape one’s artistic voice, and Fourth Streaming, which combines classical composition with Turkish violin and rhythms. The latter was premiered by the Berklee World Strings orchestra, one of Berklee’s premier ensembles, led by four-time Grammy-winner Eugene Friesen. His current symphonic orchestral project, Circuit, is a piece inspired by the global advancement from analog to digital technology over the past 80 years, drawing analogies between signal flow within the orchestra and within circuitry as part of its compositional framework. Most notable recent performances of his works include those by the Mivos Quartet and pianist Mia Elezović. Notable recent masterclasses include those with Derek Bermel, Elaine Lillios, and Matthew Aucoin.
Adam strongly believes in music as a powerful, universal tool for introspection, self-discovery, self-healing, and communication. He is currently the creative director of the Beyond Category Collective, a world music influenced jazz fusion group that fosters mutual understanding and respect through recording, performance and community outreach. It is the feeling of community in music that drives him to write music, collaborate, and teach.
